WordPress telah di-update ke versi 3.5 dengan kode nama 'Elvin' untuk menghormati Elvin Jones (drummer). Versi baru ini dilengkapi dengan media manager baru dan dukungan Retina. Pengguna WordPress akan memiliki pengalaman baru ketika meng-upload gambar.
WordPress 3.5 datang juga dengan tweak berbagai tema default yang baru (Twenty Twelve). Anda dapat menemukan fitur lengkapnya di sini. Pada tutorial ini, SmilePedia akan menunjukkan bagaimana untuk menginstal blogging dan platform CMS pada Ubuntu 12.10, Linux Mint, dan Distro lain yang berbasis Ubuntu.
Pertama, untuk dapat menginstal WordPress 3.5 di Ubuntu dan Linux Mint, Anda perlu menginstal web server (Apache, PHP, MySQL, dll).
Kedua, untuk modus GUI kami sarankan Anda menggunakan phpMyAdmin untuk membuat database MySQL dan user untuk WordPress. Untuk modus CLI, Anda dapat menjalankan urutan perintah (ganti teks yang berwarna merah dengan konfigurasi database Anda Sendiri):
mysql -u root -p
create database wordpress;
CREATE USER 'wordpress-user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '12345';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON wordpress.* TO 'wordpress-user' IDENTIFIED BY '12345';
exit
Perintah di atas akan membuat rincian seperti ini:
- Hostname: localhost
- Database: wordpress
- Database User: wordpress-user
- Database User Password: 12345
Ketiga, dengan menggunakan terminal, download dan pindah folder WordPress ke /var/www/ dengan perintah di bawah ini:
cd /tmp
wget -c http://wordpress.org/latest.zip
sudo unzip -q latest.zip -d /var/www/
sudo chmod 777 -R /var/www/wordpress
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Sekarang buka link ini untuk memulai instalasi berbasis web:
http://localhost/wordpress
(Catatan: Anda dapat mengganti localhost dengan alamat IP server Anda)
Pada halaman pertama, klik Creat a Configuration File:
